Pray
and Reflect:
-
The Father
did not send Christ in order to suffer. The Father sent the Son to
reveal Himself. Because of our sinfulness, Christ suffered.
-
In the Third
Week Christ moves toward the culmination of the revelation of God.
-
The point of
the Passion is not the physical pain of Jesus, but rather the story of
Who God is. Christ hallows the total human experience.
-
In the passion
God brings meaning out of ultimate absurdity. The Father loves
us and He wants us to know that He loves us.
-
In the Third
Week we learn to say "yes" to diminishment, suffering, and death.
-
The Passion
of Jesus is the answer to Job.

Wonder
and Discuss:
-
The Third Week and the
Fourth Week are two sides of the same Paschal Mystery.
-
The gift of "confusion"
is, I do not know how to respond adequately.
-
A retreatant's patterns
of eating, drinking, anodynes, are an important part of the faith process.
-
A good directing situation
is both relational and focused, receptive and assertive.
-
The mark of "sorrow" as
a grace is expansiveness not sadness.
